LOST PETS

If you lost your dog...

  • Contact the Animal Control Division of the Manchester Police Department right away (668-8711 x441). Notify them that you have lost a dog and be prepared to provide a full description of the dog (breed, color) and any identifies, such as ID tags, collar, scars, etc.

  • Call the animal shelter (628-3544) and report the missing dog. There is a chance it may already be there.

If you lost your cat...

  • Contact the animal shelter immediately (628-3544) and let us know about your cat. Be prepared to provide a full description of the cat (breed, color, eye color, etc.) as well as any unique identifiers, such as collars, scars, etc. Also, let us know the location from which the animal was lost, including the name of the nearest major road. We will log this information in our Lost & Found book.

  • Bring a recent photo of your cat to the animal shelter along with its name and the date and area where it was lost. Include your contact information on the back. We will post this on our Lost & Found board.

  • Do not delay before contacting the shelter. We only hold cats for 3 days before making them available for adoption.

No matter what you lost...

  • Post signs in your neighborhood. Include a photo or a thorough description of the animal and your phone number.

  • Ask neighborhood children and seniors if they have seen your pet. Children tend to be outdoors more and encounter more animals, and the seniors tend to be home more during the day.

  • Visit (or at least contact) the animal shelter daily to make sure your pet has not been admitted. We do our best to match them up, but no one knows your pet better than you.
