Meet Cooper – Your Personal Shadow! If you’ve ever wished for a cat who loves you with his whole heart and never wants to leave your side, Cooper might just be your perfect match. Cooper is what we lovingly call a “stage 5 clinger.” His love language is constant companionship, and once he picks his person, he is all in. Cooper has been returned to the shelter twice, not because he isn’t wonderful, but because his devotion can be a little… enthusiastic. He doesn’t just want to live with you—he wants to experience life with you 25/8. Watching TV? Cooper’s there. Working on your computer? Cooper’s supervising. Going to bed? Cooper thinks that means it’s time to hang out together all night long. This affectionate boy thrives in a home where someone is around often to give him the attention he craves. At the same time, Cooper would do best in a home with a bit of extra space, where his humans can occasionally step away and get a little quiet time when needed—because while Cooper may not need much sleep, you probably will! He is definitely a bit of a night owl. Cooper also has a few manageable medical quirks. He has early kidney disease, which is currently well controlled with a prescription diet. He also has a sensitive stomach and a small recurring anal prolapse that will need monitoring with routine veterinary care. She is a 7 year old lady who is an absolute love bug, once she gets to know you 😜 She came to us through Animal Control & has taken her time softening up to us & coming out of her shell. Ford came to the shelter during the winter after enduring dangerously cold temperatures outside. When she arrived, she was in rough shape. A visit with an exotic veterinarian revealed that she was severely underweight and full of follicles, causing major concern for her health. Since then, Ford has worked hard—and so has her veterinary team. Through repeated ultrasounds and careful monitoring, she has gained weight beautifully, absorbed most of the follicles, and even laid eggs along the way. Today, Ford is stable, comfortable, and enjoying life as a spunky senior lady. She still has one remaining mass that will need ongoing monitoring, and her future family should be prepared for continued veterinary care to keep an eye on her reproductive health. While she may have some extra medical needs, Ford does not let that slow her down one bit. "Cooper is the name, chatting is the game 🗣️ I am a handsome almost 5 year old man who was found on the streets of Manchester last year. It was a hot July day... and there I was... strutting about & quacking back to the sounds of nature. I was looking to be saved & am so glad I was! I am the chattiest cat at the shelter right now & I am LOUD and PROUD. I recently learned that I LOVE being brushed, especially when I am looking out at the bird-feeders outside. My friend brushed me so much, you could make a little birds nest with the hair that came off of me 🙆‍♂️ I've been adopted a few times, and after my most recent return, my friends found that the apartment life may be a bit too limiting for me. That is because, I am so loud & proud, my neighbors could literally hear me through the walls 🥰 I am a single child looking for a home with no other cats or dogs, and no young children. But don't worry, I have enough personality to fill your house with unconditional love. I am on a special diet of K/D to help manage my Kidney Disease. ***Grab a box of tissues 😭*** This is Honeycomb's story. Some cats arrive at the shelter scared. Some arrive angry. Honeycomb arrived carrying a kind of sadness that felt much deeper than fear alone. We do not know exactly what happened to her before she came to us, but it is clear that at some point in her life, Honeycomb experienced trauma that changed the way she sees the world. When she was first surrendered to the shelter, she was terrified and defensive. She did not trust people. She did not want to be handled. Most days, she simply looked unhappy to exist in such a loud, unfamiliar place. Slowly, over time, she began to recognize the shelter staff. She never became a cuddly cat, but she started to coexist with the people caring for her. She learned that treats would come, that soft voices were not dangerous, and that maybe not every person wanted something from her. Then Honeycomb developed a painful eye ulcer that eventually required her eye to be removed. After surgery, she moved into a foster home where, for the first time, she could truly exhale. In the quiet of a home, she started making tiny bits of progress. She allowed gentle head pets with a back scratcher. She carefully took treats from her foster’s hand. She watched the world from her cat tree and seemed, maybe, just a little more at peace. Today, Honeycomb spends most of her days quietly perched on her cat tree, watching the world go by. She loves treats. She loves naps. She likes simply existing near people, without expectations placed on her. She may someday decide she wants gentle affection again, or she may not. The truth is: Honeycomb may never be a cat who curls up in your lap or greets guests at the door. Honeycomb is looking for a quiet, adult-only home with patient people who can accept her exactly as she is, asking for nothing in return except the chance to stay. She may be able to live with another very calm, respectful cat who will leave her alone, but energetic animals are frightening for her. Meet Thud 🐾 Thud came into us last October long with a plethora of other cats who were all living together in the same apartment. You may of just seen a post on his former roommate, Plumpton🧡 Much like his former friend Plumpton, Thud is now in a foster home & doing so much better there. Here are some tidbits from his foster home so you can see his progress 💚 2/4/26 ~ "I think we’re doing well, it’s been a slow process. For a while, it took him a long time to come out if I was in the room, but now within the first minute, he comes out to the food, and I usually sit quietly about a foot from him. I’m looking forward to the time when he just comes out from under the bed and feels safe. He looks as though he’s putting on weight and he’s eating well. He really is a handsome boy. 4/17/26 ~ "He is a very vocal cat now! He remains in the room with a baby gate in front of it simply because he still does not allow me to touch him. He will stand at the gate loudly, meowing to get my attention and we will have a lengthy back-and-forth conversation in his language. When it’s close to feeding time, he makes it known and he will come right out and be close to me when he’s eating and seems less guarded. He is definitely a timid cat around people. Very food motivated loves his treats. I hear him running around and playing at times which is a nice sound. He is much more visible now and is often out from under the bed." 5/5/26 ~ "I think he’s always gonna be a little skittish with people. I have been able to pet him when he’s out eating, and although he shines away from it when you first touch him, he does allow me to gently pet him on the back. That is progress!" My name is Peppermint Mocha! I would love to get some attention like all of my other friends have been getting 🥺 I came into the shelter from a sad situation, where I was very underweight & needing medical help. I've been used for breeding in the past, but am doing much better now that I've been spayed & received the medical care I need. Because of how much I have been through, it has done a number on me emotionally. This is why I do have some specific needs; such as being the only animal in the home. For being such a young girl, only 3 years young & having been moved around so much in my life, I have become a particular lady. I do best with adults only, and even better with those who I know I can trust. Consistency is important to me. Katniss is now in a foster home & doing better than EVER!!! Since coming into her foster home, she is able to relax, cuddle on the bed & even receive some head scratches & full body pets. We learned that she was just too stressed out here in the shelter, and being away from the other cats has been a miracle worker for her. 💗 Her foster dad says she is the cutest thing. She likes to follow him around, always checking in on where he is at. When she loses sight of you, she let's out little alarm meows, so all you need to say is "Katniss, I'm right here!" and she runs over to you with glee. Footsie is looking for a foster home! Footsie is a 5 year old flutternutter who is the friendliest cat on this planet. He loves to be held, picked up, chin scritches, head pets, you name it! Footsie is positive for FELV. (Feline Leukemia Virus) FeLV is a viral infection that affects a cat's immune system. It is contagious between cats; transmitted through saliva, blood, and close contact. For this reason, Footsie NEEDS to be the only cat in his new home. This 13 year old beauty is Ramona 🧡 Ramona is a little bundle of personality who is looking for a home to live the rest of her golden years. She is actually the cutest thing to walk this planet, we checked in with Mother Nature & she agreed with this statement. She opens up her mouth to meow, and often no noise comes out! She has the cutest, smallest quack that will sometimes surface, so when we tell her to say hello, it's a 50/50 shot she will quack for us. She is a plump, loving lady, and she is positive for FIV. While we do have a room where our FIV+ cats live in & roam free, Ramona did not appreciate being placed in there. She kindly said, "No thankyou" when the boys came up to her & introduced themselves. "Hello darlings, my name is Kaiya. I came to the shelter after my beloved owner passed away :( It's been so hard & confusing, but my shelter friends are doing a great job taking care of me. I'm the type of cat who wants everything on MY terms. I love head pets, when I ask for them. I love to come out of my cage, when I feel like it. I love to play with wand & feather toys (specifically Peacock feathers) when I'm feeling frisky. I'm a beautiful, soft girl with the smallest, squeakiest meow. The more you spend time with me, the more I learn to trust you & love you. I would not like to live with other animals. Dogs & Cats frighten me, and I do best when my people can listen to me. Crayon & Meek Mill are a bonded pair of lovebugs who are looking for someone to notice them! 🥺 For over 282 days, these bonded boys have been waiting for a miracle. They were found as strays, wandering around looking for help in the heat of July last summer. They are both FIV+ so it's harder for them to catch attention for adoption. But FIV+ cats can live long, happy, fulfilled lives just like any other cat. They have seen many of their FIV+ friends get adopted over the months they have been here ~ do you think they could be next?! Crayon loves "uppies" meaning he likes to be picked up by his friends for snuggles. He loves being kissed, loves crunchy treats, perching on high surfaces, cat-nip, mouse toys & feather toys. Meek Mill loves to watch & observe his surroundings, any food with a crunch to it, other kitties, wand toys, and comfy hidey beds. Both of these fine fellas are on a Prescription Urinary Diet, since they share a room & we need to ensure Crayon is eating his proper diet. He has been dealing with chronic ear infections that were not consistently treated, so our team is currently focused on getting those under control before he becomes available for adoption. He will likely be needing surgery for his ears, so we expect him to need a while to recover. Since arriving, Teddy has been friendly with all staff and volunteers. He is comfortable being crated, though he can be a bit vocal at times & doesn’t always enjoy going back into his crate, which is understandable since they have to spend a lot of time in crates here for the time being. We are hoping to find a foster for him while he heals and get to know more about him in a home setting! Before (55lbs) Vs. After (63lbs) Peppermint Mocha has been through so much 💔 She came in completely emaciated, terrified, confused, all alone in the world. She has spent her years traveling from home to home, then to a shelter, where things are loud, chaotic & fast-paced. We have been working so much with her, helping her trust again, teaching her what unconditional love is ~ and now, Peppermint is thriving more than ever in her foster home. This girl has a high prey drive & does not like other dogs - she would need to be the only animal in her home. She would not be able to live with young kiddos; older, dog savvy teens. We know these placements can be hard to find, but Peppermint has some specific needs. Can you blame someone who has been through so much trauma? She is an avid cheese lover, tummy-rub addict & can keep up with you on the walking trail. When she first got into her foster home, it took her the usual 3 days to settle in. This past weekend we hosted our annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner, to honor the wonderful team of volunteers we have here at The Manchester Animal Shelter🎈 It truly takes a special person to donate their undevoted time to the homeless animals of our city. Often coming in frightened, confused & their whole world turned upside down, our animals lives have changed in the blink of an eye. These amazing people are the constant that the animals have grow to love, appreciate & depend on. Imagine everything you've ever known changing overnight, and then for the next 125 days you are wondering if someone is coming around to save you... this is Baja Blast's reality 💔 Baja Blast is a young man, just 1 year & 3 months old. Jumanji is a 4-year-old boy who is equal parts lovable companion & feline explorer. Just like the game he’s named after, life with Jumanji can be unpredictable—but also incredibly rewarding for the right person! Jumanji absolutely loves being around people. He enjoys hanging out nearby, flopping down next to you for pets & soaking up attention while you brush him. He’s affectionate, loves human company & wants to be part of whatever you’re doing. He's done well living with other cats after the typical “getting to know you” period, so a home with feline friends could be a great fit for him. Now, about that adventurous side… Jumanji can get a little overstimulated and has some quirky habits that his future family will need to be mindful of. He loves weaving around your feet while you’re walking—especially on stairs—and sometimes rolls onto the steps to grab your attention (and occasionally your shoelaces) with his paws. Because of this, his adopter will need to move carefully around him & help redirect him when he gets a little too enthusiastic. He also prefers to keep all four paws on the ground, so being picked up is not on his bingo card! Jumanji will do best with a patient, cat-savvy adopter who understands cat body language and can appreciate his big personality while helping him manage his excitement. In return, you’ll get a loyal little shadow who loves being near his people and soaking up affection. He will help you navigate all of life's hurdles. Cooper is an almost 5 year old opera singer who likes to belt the songs of his ancestors. His bloodline has been singing for ages! He is the MOST vocal cat we have at the moment, always chirping, chittering, singing & is seeking someone who encourages his vocal stims. He was originally brought in to us as a stray, and has been adopted out & returned twice since then. He would likely do best with an owner who is a fellow home-body, works from home, and has no other pets or children. In summary, he needs a fellow introvert who will give him all of the pets, snacks, and rap battles he asks for. (it may be a tall ask, but it's what Cooper needs!) **Volume Up** Listen to Cooper! Cooper is a chitterbug ready to speak sweet nothings in your ear. He is a handsome, soft, friendly, vocal man who has waited ever-so-patiently for someone to fall in love with him. He does have Chronic Kidney Disease, which we are currently managing with a special prescription diet. He will need to stay on this diet in his furr-ever home. Cooper would do best in a home with no young children, no dogs & no cats. He needs an owner who will let him be himself, loud & proud, singing the songs of his people. Would someone come & give our FIV+ kitties some love? 😿 Meek Mill & Crayon (bonded pair) reside in our Cat Community Room alongside their handsome companion, Smokey. All of these boys are positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) which makes it a bit harder for them to get adopted. A lot of people have misconceptions about FIV. It is not contagious like a viral infection, humans cannot catch it, and it does not mean they are doomed to live an unhealthy life. It essentially means that they are more susceptible to infections & illnesses, because FIV is a slow-acting virus that weakens a cat's immune system. As long as they live indoors, receive routine annual vet care & are showered with love, these boys can live just as long, and happily, as any other cat. Meek Mill & Crayon would love to find their home together. They are 2 of our longer stay-cats at the moment, and have really been coming out of their shells as of late. Smokey is already getting a bit more attention than his friends Crayon & Meek, and we would love to see someone apply for them specifically! Adoption Update on one of our favorite FIV+ kitties, Diego! 🧡🦁 1st Update: "Diego is adjusting well to his new home. He really started to come out of his shell over the past few days. He loves “talking” and has been purring and trilling frequently. He is the happiest boy! He is still full of his signature cattitude. He has strong treat, toy and play preferences (and he makes no apologies!) His favorite activities include resting in bed, relaxing on the couch, hunting his toy birds and mice, TV, and eating. Diego is perfect. We’re still working on not being so scared of new things and sounds. He’s made a lot of progress and I’m very proud of him." 2nd Update: "It’s amazing to see him come out of his shell as he gets more comfortable. He’s such a ham. He has so much love to give. I think it comes from the love and care you guys gave him. He likes to sit in the sink and watch me get ready. He sleeps next to me and starts purring the second I wake up. He purrs and trills constantly throughout the day. It’s been so fun watching him explore and discover things for the first time. I’m so lucky to have him. Cashe is our sleeping beauty 🙇‍♀️ Here are some heart warming photos of her in her current foster home! (She is available for adoption!) She is currently our longest residential animal, being in our care for 292 days. Since LAST JUNE 😿 Cashe's foster says, "She is very playful with wand toys, she likes watching cat tv, sitting in window sill sun baths. She is a very good friend, keeps you company and makes you laugh with her silly demeanor! Just looking at her expressions is hilarious, her beautiful, rare face looks like an old painting of a cat when in profile, from many angles can be seen as truly a work of art. She's a very good girl, her care is easy, she's a wonderful & funny friend. She likes a tall glass of water to drink from next to the bed on a step-up carpeted perch. That’s where she does most of her water drinking. " Fun Facts about Cashe we've learned since she's been in foster: - Always uses litter box! - Loves to get combed & brushed under her jaw/behind her neck - Loves to be close curling up in bed & will lean up against you as her human heat pad. - Has hilarious zoomies once in a while! - Likes being close to you & getting pet in bed - She on occasion will sit on you while you lay down, but it takes a bit of time to get there. Imagine this.... You are going about your day, knowing your daily routine, the environment around you & you are waiting for your next snuggle with the person you love most. Then suddenly, everything changes and you can no longer see your person every day, they think you are better off elsewhere. You quickly realize that you are alone, confused & broken. You go to a safe place where the new people around you all look concerned. They are worried for you. "Why are they looking at me like that? Did I do something wrong?" You then learn that these new people only want to shower you with love, affection, and most importantly... FOOD! You find that you are very much underweight & your new friends don't know much about your past, but are doing everything they can to make you better. You understand that they have kind hearts, soft eyes & a gentle touch. ❤ But then, you look around you & see other dogs live here. The spaces are small, there are a lot of smells, this is nothing like the life you knew. You miss your person, you miss the feel of a soft rug, of a comfy couch, you miss being able to relax. Over time, you are blessed to get into a foster home. You start to become yourself again! Learning to trust, to heal, to grow & most important, you are being a patient girl, waiting for another chance. This is Peppermint's Story. Peppermint Mocha came to us last November & is looking to start her Spring with her new family. She has been through so much. Peppermint's Foster Mom is going on vacation soon, and we would love to find her a home before then so she does not need to come back to the shelter & live in a crate. Is there anything cuter than a momma taking care of her kitten? 🥹 Monet is a 2 year old mom who is so thankful to have her little Van Gogh by her side. She has shown us to be the most caring, loving & sweetest girl. All she does is cuddle up with her little peanut, keeping her warm & safe. Her daughter, Van Gogh (orange female kitten) is just 2 months old & is a total "Momma's Girl" ~ these ladies are a bonded pair & would need to be adopted together. Monet told us that she does LOVE her daughter, but is not the best with other cats. She would like to bring Van Gogh home to a calm, serine evniornment where they can endulge in girl dinner, fine arts & basking in the sunshine on a warm spring day. Baja Blast is just a young man who is learning how to grow into his own! He is 1 year & 2 months old, 54lbs of muscle & as handsome as ever. He went on an adventure yesterday with his good friend, Miko! "Baja Blast was such a good boy on his short walk off-site. He got to see some deer pretty close up, ran around for a little, and then sat in the sun for a while and took in all the smells. I love him" Baja Blast LOVES other dogs! He has had a few dog-to-dog introductions here at the shelter & done very well. We think he could do well in a home with another confident, dog savvy dog that can show Baja what the Canine Club is all about. 🐕(Though Baja loves dogs, he has shown us he does not love cats & would like to live without them) Baja is a man with many quirks. He pitter-patters around bodies of water like a cat, throws himself to the ground for belly rubs for his friends, and gives you that blank stare which makes us think... he may not have too much going on upstairs 🤣 He has come a long way since his start with us & showing us every day what a good boy he can be. We are expanding! We are so excited for this new beginning for the shelter. This has been a long time coming, and we are incredibley grateful to everyone who helped make this happen! 🩷🐾

Meet Cashe! (pronounced "cash") Cashe is an 8-year-old sweetheart who's been patiently waiting for her second chance for over 283 days. 😥 She is currently our longest residential animal in the shelter. She first arrived here last summer & has spent the past several months working through a number of medical concerns. Through it all, Cashe has remained a gentle, loving girl who just wants a cozy place to call home! Cashe was recently diagnosed with Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy, a heart condition that she now takes two medications for. She has also been treated for a chronic ear infection, had dental work completed & previously saw an ophthalmologist for a squinty eye caused by a flare-up of feline herpes brought on by the stress of shelter life. (We calculated the cost of her current meds from Chewy: Atenolol 25mg- $3.90 for 60 day supply & Clopidogrel 75mg- $18 for 240 day supply) While that may sound like a lot, Cashe has been doing wonderfully in her foster home over the past few months and is feeling much more like herself. Meet Dimoo 🐈 This vibrant, handsome, alluring man is the posterchild for the "Look, don't touch!" campaign & has been a proud sponsor of this campaign for almost 4 1/2 years. He was found as a stray outside, going from door to door, until a kind human brought him to the shelter. Now, he is itching to get out of here & find a home to call his own. Sadie loves to play dress up! She is the sweetest girl & great for close handling. We had a play date the other day & Sadie loved every moment. She posed for pictures with her mini cowboy, did enrichment puzzles, got a cream cheese treat, belly rubs & even tucked herself in for a nap in her crate. Sadie would be an amazing companion. She's a GSD so she does often have a lot to say; that's just in her nature! The thing she loves most is going on walks where she can work her brain & stretch her legs. She loves puzzles involving food. She loves to do tricks & commands for her people. She's house broken, crate trained, could do well with cats & could even do well with older children/teens in the home. 182 days with us, and she is making great strides. As a dog selective girl, Sadie says it's up to her if she wants to be friends with another dog or not. She is currently on a special diet of Natural Balance & will need to continue that in her new home. We refuse to lose hope. But time is of the essence! Soon, the dogs will need to be moved out of the kennel; which is not ideal for Sadie.
