A Shelter Built Around Second Chances

Sometimes people arrive here excited to meet their future pet. Other times they come worried because a dog or cat has gone missing, or because they want to help animals in their community but don’t know where to start.

๏ปฟ

Manchester Animal Shelter has been serving the Manchester community since 1996, providing care, medical attention, and safe shelter for animals who need a fresh start. Each year more than 1,500 animals pass through the shelter, and every one of them receives patience, compassion, and the support needed to begin again.

Programs That Support Pets and Their People

Animal welfare often means helping families keep the pets they already love. Manchester Animal Shelter offers programs that support both animals and the people who care for them.

  • Pet Food Pantry — Helps households facing temporary hardship continue feeding and caring for their pets so families can stay together.
  • Pets for Vets — Connects approved veterans with companion animals and waives the adoption fee to support both veterans and shelter pets.
  • Spay & Neuter Programs — Community initiatives that help reduce animal homelessness while supporting responsible pet ownership.

Ways You Can Help Animals Right Now

Animals find safety and new beginnings because members of the community step forward to help. Whether you choose to give your time, resources, or long-term support, every contribution strengthens the shelter’s ability to care for animals in need.

Donate

Financial support helps provide food, medical care, enrichment, and shelter for animals while they wait for permanent homes. Donations of any size directly support the daily care and wellbeing of animals at the shelter.

Volunteer

Volunteers are an important part of the shelter’s work, helping with animal care, events, and community outreach. Giving a few hours of your time can make life better for animals waiting for families.

Supply Wishlist

Many animals arrive with nothing, and donated supplies help meet their everyday needs. Items like food, bedding, toys, and cleaning materials help the shelter maintain a safe and comfortable environment.

Planned Giving

Some supporters choose to help animals long into the future by including the shelter in their estate plans. Planned gifts help ensure Manchester Animal Shelter can continue providing care and second chances for years to come.

Commemorative Bricks

Supporters can honor a beloved pet, family member, or friend with a commemorative brick at the shelter. These lasting tributes celebrate the connection people share with animals while supporting shelter programs.
